Q. Which of the following is secondary cell?

 1657  196 AFMCAFMC 2004 Report Error

Solution:

In a secondary cell the electrochemical reaction is reversible.
Unlike primary cell secondary cell must be charged before use. Once used the batteries can be recharged by using an external electric source that reverses the cell reaction and creates a non-equilibrium mixture of reactants. Edison cell is one such example. It has a positive plate of nickel oxide and a negative plate of iron both immersed in an electrolyte of potassium hydroxide.
