On the earth's surface at the poles we find gravity will be the strongest. The earth is an oblate spheroid, and that means it bulges out in the middle (the equator). That also means the poles end up a little closer to the centre of gravity. That is why on the surface of earth, at the poles the intensity of gravity is the maximum.
