Lamarcks evolutionary theory is popularly called Lamarckism or inheritance of acquired characters, published in his famous book Philosphic Zoologique. It states, that characters develop by the animal during their life time in response to the environment changes are the acquired characters and these characters are transmitted i.e., inherited by the off springs generations after generations. Darwin proposed the evolutionary theory on the origin of species by means of natural selection; stressing the features of over production, struggle for existence, variations, survival of the fittest. Hugo de Vries put forward the Mutation theory of evolution and described it as a discontinuous process.
