Solution:

Transitional epithelium (Urothelium): It is a stretchable type of compound epithelium. It consists of 4-6 layers of cells. At rest these cells acquire different shapes:
A. Inner layer: Cube like cells.
B. Middle 2 -4 layers: Pear shaped and polyhedral cells.
C. Outermost 1 -2 layers: Oval shaped cells.
- When the tissue is stretched, all cells become flattened.
Location: Renal pelvis, ureter, urinary bladder, proximal part of male urethra.
