Solution:

Menstrual cycle is the reproductive cycle in females. The name is derived from the word 'mesum' meaning one month. Thus this cycle is repeated every month. This cycle includes changes in the ovary and the uterus simultaneously. The beginning of the cycle is the bleeding phase also known as Menstrual phase. This continues for 3-5 days. During this phase there is shedding of endometrium and unfertilisedovum. This is followed by follicular phase in ovary which shows formation of new follicles and proliferative phase in the uterus that begins repair of endometrium. These phases are then followed by ovulation.Following this is the luteal phase in ovary that shows formation of corpus luteum and secretory phase in the uterus which shows formation of secretory glands as the uterus is preparing itself to receive the fertilised ovum. Fertilisation will mark the cessation of the cycle temporarily however if no fertilisation is seen the same cycle is repeated. Thus the phases are
Menstrual Proliferative/Follicular Ovulatory Secretory/Luteal
