Solution:
Lipids are classified as simple, conjugated, and derived lipids. Simple lipids are esters of fatty acids and alcohols. If these alcohols are glycerols then such simple lipids are neutral fats. Glycerol is trihydric alcohol i.e. it has three hydroxy groups. Thus if such alcohol reacts with fatty acids to form esters, three such fatty acids are needed. This forms triglyceride. Example: Glycerol reacts with three palmitic acids to form tripalmitin and its formula is C51H98O6.
