Sclerenchymatous cells have a characteristic deposition of lignin in its secondary cell walls. Lignin provide mechanical strength . This lignified sclerenchyma is rigid and non stretchable and are found in non growing regions, as they are devoid of protoplasm so they can’t t divide or show growth.
