Solution:

Diabetes insipidus is caused by the deficiency of ADH. It increases the reabsorption of water in the distal convoluted tubule and collecting ducts of the nephrons of the kidneys. As a result, the reabsorption of water from the glomerular filtrate is increased. It is characterised by excessive dilute urine.
