Solution:

Taj Mahal is threatened due to the emission of compounds like SO2 and NOx. When these compounds are transported by wind and air currents into the atmosphere, they react with water, oxygen and other chemicals to form sulfuric acid and nitric acid. These then mix with water and other materials before falling to the ground in the form of acid rain. Acid rain has reacted with the marble of Taj Mahal and turned it to yellow, which was milky white earlier.
