When the magnetic flux linked with the conductor is changed then die current is induced in form of closed loops in a conductor. These are called eddy currents. These currents oppose the cause of their origin, therefore, due to eddy currents produced in core of transformer, a great amount of energy is wasted in form of heat energy.
