Solution:
Progesterone is a steroid hormone secreted by corpus luteum. Small amount of progesterone is also secreted by adrenal cortex and placenta. It is responsible for the maintenance of pregnancy, hence called as pregnancy hormone. During pregnancy, progesterone helps in attaching embryo to uterine wall, development of placenta and growth of secretory alveoli in mammary glands.
Corpus albicans is degenerated corpus luteum as a white fibrous small cell mass. Corpus callosum is a thick band of nerve fibre which connects two cerebral hemispheres. Corpus striatum is a subcortical mass of grey and white substance in front and lateral to the thalamus in each cerebral hemisphere.
