Solanaceae is also known as the potato family. The androecium found is polyandrous with epipetalous stamens. The gynoecium found is bicarpellary, syncarpous, bilocular and axile placentation, a superior ovary is present. The fruit formed is called Berry as in tomato and brinjal. The seeds are endospermic.
