In family Solanaceae gynoecium is bicarpellary, syncarpous, bilocular axial placentation. ovary obliquely placed in the flower. In Brassicaceae the gynoecium is bicarpellary, syncarpous ovary superior unilocular but becomes bilocular due to anterior posterior partition (pseudoseptum) which develops by the ingrowth of placentae, parietal placentation. In Leguminosae (Papilionaceae) the gynoecium is monocarpellary, unilocular, ovary superior having marginal placentation. In family Compositae (Asteraceae) the gynoecium is bicarpellary, syncarpous ovary inferior, unilocular with basal placentation.
