The plant body of Rhizopus is mycelium. The mycelium is distinguishable into three types of hyphae. [a] Rhizoidal: These are narrow racemose structure and absorb the food material. [b] Stolons: These are slightly broader hyphae which grow parallel to the substratum. [c] Sporangiophores: They grow verticaly upward. They remain unbranched arid form a terminal sporangium. The mycelium is aseptate and multinucleate called Coenocytic the species of Rhizoptis may be heterothallic or homothallic.
