Solution:

A chromosome is supercoiled DNA which is visible during the divisional phase of the cell cycle. These chromosomes contain chromatids and show primary constriction sites called the centromere. Depending on the location of the centromere the chromosome is classified as -
Metacentric - centromere is at the middle
Telocentric - it has terminal centromere
Acrocentric - centromere is located close to end making one arm very long and the other one very short.
Sub-metacentric - centromere is close to the centre but not at the centre, thus making unequal sized arm (one short and one long)
