Initiation codon in prokaryotes as well as eukaryotes is AUG which codes for N - Formylmethionine in prokaryotes and methionine in eukaryotes. GUG which normally codes for valine also used as initiation codon as coding methionine or N- Formylmethionine when AUG is not available. UAA and UGA are stop codons.
