Chrysophytes include diatoms and golden algae. These are present in fresh water and marine water both. In diatoms the upper and lower walls are arranged as thin shells that fit together as a soap box. These walls are embedded with silica and this accumulate over time and this is known as diatomaceous earth. These appear gritty and this is used in polishing, filtration of oils and syrups. These and Dinoflagellates both are producers of this ocean
