Mineralocorticoids include Aldosterone, 11-Deoxycotticosterone, etc. These are secreted by zona glomerulosa of the adrenal cortex. Their secretion is stimulated by a decrease in sodium level. Secretion of aldosterone is stimulated by ACTH and angiotensin of RAAS. These maintain hypernatraemia and hypokalemia by increased sodium reabsorption from the nephric filtrate. These also regulate the balance of water and electrolytes in the body.
