Solution:

Loss of water in liquid form from leaf surface is called guttation. Guttation generally occurs at night when transpiration has stopped and rate of absorption is high. Under these conditions root pressure is maximum which forces the water upward through xylem elements and eventually exudes in the form of drops through hydathodes, at leaf margins.
