Theory of pangenesis was given by Darwin which says that every somatic cell and tissue of the body produces a tiny particle called gemmule or pangene which contains both the parental and the acquired characters. The pangenes collect in the gametes and are passed on to the zygote where they guide the growth of different parts of the embryo to form an offspring.
