Meiosis is a reductional division process where the cell undergoes two successive division processes to reduce chromosome number to half. It is divided into meiotic stage I and II. Anaphase I is part of the meiotic stage I, where the sister chromatids separate from its homologous counterpart. The chromatids centromere remains intact in this stage and do not separate. Their separation occurs in anaphase II in meiotic stage II.
