Solution:

The cry gene of Bacillus thuringiensis encodes for the Bt toxin. The cryIAc and cryIIAb are incorporated in cotton to control cotton bollworms. CryIAb gene is incorporated in corn plants to control corn borer. The mechanism of action of cry toxins is to make pores and lyse midgut epithelial cells, in the target insects for which it is specific, by forming pores in the apical microvilli membrane of the cells.
