Tracheobronchial tree consists of -
I. Conducting part (from the external nostrils up to the terminal bronchioles). It performs the following functions -
A. Transport of the atmospheric air to the alveoli.
B. Removal of foreign particles.
C. Humidification of air.
D. Maintaining the temperature of air equal to body temperature.
II. Exchange part (includes alveoli and their ducts) - It is the site of actual diffusion of O2 and CO2 between blood and atmospheric air.
