Capitulum or head inflorescence is the characteristic feature of family Compositae (Asteraceae). In capitulum inflorescence, main axis is suppressed and flowers (florets) are produced from thalamus. The peripheral florets are unisexual and known as ray florets while central florets are bisexual and known as disc florets.
