Bulliform cells are associated with adaxial surface of monocot leaf that is isobilateral leaf. In isobilateral leaf, certain adaxial epidermal cells along the veins modify themselves into large, empty, colourless cells. These cells absorb water and get turgid, this condition makes the leaf surface get exposed. In the water stress condition, they loose water and make the leaves curl inwards to minimize water loss.
