The secondary follicle acquires more layers of granulosa cells, and a fluid-filled cavity is formed within it; this cavity is known as the antrum and the structure is called the tertiary follicle. The antrum is a peculiar feature of the tertiary follicle, which further matures to form the Graafian follicle.
