Q.
A vessel has 6g of oxygen at pressure P and temperature 400K. A small hole is made in it so that oxygen leaks out. How much oxygen leaks out if the final pressure is 2P and temperature 300K ?
PV=MmRT (for m grams of gas) ...(i) P′V=Mm′RT′...(ii)
Dividing equation (ii) by (i) we get PP′=mm′TT′ m′=PP′×T′T×m=(PP/2)×300400×6=4g ∴ Mass of oxygen leaked, Δm=m−m′=6−4=2g
