Moment of inertia of a square about an axis through
its centre and perpendicular to its plane IO=12M(l2+l2)=6Ml2
According to theorem of perpendicular
axes, we get I1+I2=IO=6Ml2
But I1=I2 (By symmetry) ∴2I1=6Ml2 or I1=12Ml2
