A photo cell is a device which absorbs light and produces a stream of electrons. It basically converts light energy into electric energy. There are many types of photoelectric cells differing in construction but all based on photoelectric effect. There are three main types photo-emissive cells, photo voltaic cells and photoconductive cells.
