The condition that must be obeyed by an ideal gas in an adiabatic process is given by PVγ= constant
or P1V1γ=p2V2γ
or P2=P1(V2V1)γ
Here, P1=P,V1V2=81,γ=35 ∴P2=P(8)5/3
or P2=P(23)5/3=32P
Note: The equation PVγ= constant can be written in terms of other pair of thermodynamic variables by combining it with the ideal gas law (PV=nRT). In doing so, we will find that, TVγ−1= constant and TγP1−γ= constant.
