Q.
A gun fire bullets each of mass 1g with velocity of 10ms−1 by exerting a constant force of 5g weight. Then, the number of bullets fired per second is (take g=10ms−2 )
Mass of Each bullet, (m)=1g=0.001kg.
Velocity of bullet, (v)=10ms−1
Applied force, (F)=5 =10005×10=0.05N.
Let n bullets are fired per second, then
Force = rate of change of linear momentum
i.e., F=n×mv ∴ Number of bullets fired per second, n=mvF=0.001×100.05=5
